LIQUID-E is a Vitamin E supplement for horses containing 16,67 i.u. per millilitre with the source of Vitamin E being dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate.

OCCURRENCE:
Tocopherols are present in varying amounts in animal and plant feeds. The decisive factor here is not the total tocopherol content, but the content of active d-alpha-tocopherol (maximum vitamin E activity), which is important for animal nutrition.

High contents of tocopherol are present in young green fodder and wheat seedlings. The tocopherol fraction in cereals has only a low content of the valuable alpha-tocopherol, so that only a low vitamin E activity can be expected from cereals. This applies to an increased extent to outgrowth cereals, since the alpha-tocopherol content decreases considerably during germination. Little or no tocopherol is present in root crops and feeds from which fat has been removed, (residues from oil production, skimmed milk or whey).

PHYSIOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE:
Vitamin E is necessary firstly for cell metabolism (cell respiration and nucleic acid metabolism), and secondly for its action as an antioxidant, which suppresses the autoxidation of unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin A in vivo.

Further functions of vitamin E are the control of carbohydrate and creatine metabolism and of muscle metabolism and glycogen balance, regulation of the development and function of the reproductive glands, preparation and protection of pregnancy, regulation of hormone metabolism via the anterior lobes of the pituitary gland, stimulation of antibody production and an antitoxic effect in cell metabolism.

FEEDING GUIDELINES:
Iron is a known antagonist of Vitamin E. Therefore we recommend that when giving LIQUID-E concurrently with any supplement containing iron, that LIQUID-E be given in the morning feed and the iron supplement in the evening feed. Alternatively LIQUID-E can be administrated by oral syringe, preferably 30 minutes prior to feeding the iron supplement.

Treatment should be as follows: Slow work/conditioning - 60 millilitres daily, fast work/racing - 60 to 90 millilitres daily, spellings - 45 to 60 ml daily, yearlings - 60 millilitres daily. Pour the required dose in 2 to 3 places on top of feed. For small feeds, mix in lightly. Alternatively the measured dose of LIQUID-E may be drawn into an oral syringe and deposited on the back of the tongue.

PACKAGED:
1litre, 5 litres and 25 litres.
